RE: Sidewalk and RailKeith,
Please note the attached markup indicating the desired
pedestal/pilaster configuration. Additionally the dimensions for the
size and spacing are shown on sheet 88 of the plans.
As for the alignment, the face of the rail should follow the face of
the rail on the bridge. An alignment was provided for the retaining wall
on sheet 24 and detail for this section (wall/trail/rail) is indicated
on sheet 87. Yes we do need a ¾ expansion joint between the trail
pavement and the top of the block wall.

Iowa bridge requests more information about the rail on the south west
end of our project not on the bridge. Please confirm the size and
spacing of pilasters. Please confirm the alignment of the rail. Please
confirm that the back of the sidewalk will pour against the block
retaining wall with a ¾” expansion joint.
