Temp Bridge RailKeith, I’ve pulled my plans and specs and have some thoughts on the quantity overrun issue. * You are correct that the quantity shown for item I-193 is representative of the bridge length. This quantity is indicated in both the specs and plans on Sheet 66 of the 2.A plan set. I believe that it was intended to reflect only the quantity required for the bridge itself i.e…. not transition to and from. I agree that this should have been included in the traffic control/phasing bid item (I-4). * The pay item description for item I-4 does indicate that all temp shoring and traffic barriers are inclusive to the price bid for this item. This is also well noted on the Construction Sequencing and TCP sheets (49-52). * TISEO bid for item I-4 for section 2.A was $338,000. This may be a bit of a stretch but it seems that the bridge rail should be covered under item I-193 and all other temp barrier (including leading up to and away from the bridge) should be covered under item I-4. I’ll call you tomorrow to discuss. Chris Chris Schmitt, P.E.
