Summer Place monumentApril 2, 2014
Keith,
This is to make you aware of the resolutions of the home owners of
Summer Place as it relates to the entry monument.
Attached find four photos depicting the traffic issues and present
condition of the monument at the entrance to the Summer Place
subdivision.
The damage portrayed in the photos was caused in 2010 when a resident’s
vehicle hit the monument while trying to get around a parked car.
This monument is a traffic hazard, an obstruction to the safe entry to
this community and a potential liability to the property owners/City of
Coppell.
After the accident an effort to garner support for the repair or
removal of the monument was undertaken by; Paul Gruzca and other home
owners.
A total of 99 flyers were attached to the entrance doors of each and
every home in the subdivision. The objective of the flyer was to
solicit an opinion
as to how each home owner wished to have the monument issue resolved.
The flyer requested they vote for either: A) removal; B) repair; C)
relocation.
Out of a potential 99 homes, 36 responses to the flyers were received
and the majority of the respondents voted to completely remove the
monument.
As you have pointed out over the last years the entry monument is the
property and ultimately the responsibility of the home owners of Summer
Place.
Therefore, before a serious accident proves injurious, we the home
owners of Summer Place have elected to undertake the removal and the
relocation of the monument.
Demolition of the monument is underway, the letters have been salvaged
and will be relocated to the knee wall on the side of the entrance to
Summer Place.
Sincerely,
Rupert Keeping
