RE: Summer Place Entry Monument - 1Keith, Below please find a copy of an email you sent to me on: : Friday, January 21, 2011 1:51 PM and a similar email from: Tim Oates, Coppell Fire Department, Deputy Chief – Prevention, on Wed 12/29/2010 9:19 AM The reason I am sending this email and the copy of your and Tim Oates email is; Today I spoke to the workers removing that portion of the street at the entrance to Summer Place and they tell me they have been instructed NOT to remove the monument. Your written words are quoted below: " I have discussed this with several members of the city staff. The general consensus is that if the homeowners wish to remove the sign itself, that would be within your right as the owners of the sign. As far as removal of the island and paving over that area, the city is willing to do that during the reconstruction of Sandy Lake Road. It simply does not make sense from a financial standpoint for the city to expend resources removing the island now when the entire area will be torn up again within the next 12 months as part of the Sandy Lake Road project." Please respond via email with an indication of your intent regarding the removal of this hazard. Myself and the majority of the home owners of Summer Place look forward to seeing the monument gone. You said you would contact Public Works. Have you been able to obtain assistance of any kind from Public Works or any other city department? RWK's NOTES: MARVIN, KEITH P.E 01 10 11 .spoke to Keith / he will consult with public works and get back to me. Wed 12/29/2010 9:19 AM Tim Oates toates@coppelltx.gov <mailto:toates@coppelltx.gov> Mr. Keeping, I have spoken with the decision makers on your inquiry...the consensus is to remove the median and sign at the time of the Sandy Lake Road reconstruction. I do not know the exact time line on the Sandy Lake reconstruction, the prep work, underground utility locates/relocates, etc will begin soon, but the entire project will take 18 to 24 months. If you want to check the progress of the project, you can refer to the Engineering Construction Projects portion of the City of Coppell website at http://coppelltx.gov/departments/departments-a-e/engineering/current-con struction-projects If you have any additional questions that I may be able to assist with, please feel free to contact me directly.
