Sandy Lake at Winding HollowKeith,
I wanted to express my concern over the current condition of the
intersection of Sandy Lake Rd and Winding Hollow Ln. As I’m sure you’re
aware Sandy Lake was just rerouted to the north near Winding Hollow Ln
and N Coppell Rd. Following these changes this intersection is very
dangerous. The primary concern is the lack of sight distance to the
West when turning onto Sandy Lake from Winding Hollow. To be quite
honest, due to the large pile of dirt, there is almost no visibility.
The other major concern is the lack of signage and delineation of the
roadway. The signs have fallen down multiple times and due to the lack
of marking, it’s almost impossible to tell where the traffic lanes of
Sandy Lake are.
While I personally have chosen not to use this intersection anymore, I
doubt everyone has done the same, not to mention the several high school
students and inexperienced drivers that live in the neighborhood.
It is hard for me to believe that the city has chosen to take on this
huge liability of creating and failing to maintain such a dangerous
intersection. There is no doubt that during the time frame of this
construction project, someone will be seriously injured, if not worse.
It seems there has to be a better option, whether that be closing the
intersection or adding other traffic control measures. At the very
least, the sight distance and signage should be improved.
Thanks for your time. Please don’t hesitate to ask further questions.
