From: Mike Ripley [mailto:mripleyusa@aol.com] Sent: Friday, May 29, 2015 8:29 AM To: 'Michael Garza' Cc: 'Jason Osterberger'; 'Eric Fruithandler' Subject: FW: Hello Michael, the attached video was taken at 7 am this morning (after the water had dropped 2 ft). As you know I have been a resident since 1986 and have seen two of the 100 yr floods that hit Coppell. The water at 3am this morning was as high as the “100 yr floods” … the difference, those were caused by over 10” of rain. What you see in the attached video is 2.5” inches of rain, but because so much warehouse and concrete construction has been added up stream in the last 10 yrs, the effects of 2.5” of rain is equal to 10” of rain 20 yrs ago. The real issue is the creek is making a new channel, which will cut everyone’s yard downstream of me in half… in some cases, the new channel will come inside their fenced areas. Please share this video with anyone concerned. If we truly do get a major rain event of 5” or more, there will be massive property damage on Winding Hollow Ln. In my opinion, the city should take steps to make sure the creek does NOT cut a new channel … which will require that it puts in retaining walls at the major bend … which happens to be my yard.
