Subject: VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH TRAFFIC CONCERNS
I spoke with Theresa Brundridge who is on staff with the Valley Ranch Baptist Church at 1501 E. Beltline. Brundridge asked if an officer would be directing traffic at the intersection
of MacArthur and Riverchase on Sunday. She stated that she and her staff witnessed a couple of near accidents at that intersection because traffic does not know they can make a left
turn on the solid green. She stated that it is unclear to motorists that only one direction has a green light at a time. Also, they stated that no one this morning saw a detour sign
indicating that traffic needed to turn onto Riverchase to access Beltline. She stated that there is a rather large wedding on Saturday at 6:00pm with many guests coming from out of town.
Without better signs and signals at MacArthur and Riverchase, she is concerned many may get lost. Lastly, Brundridge inquired as to why was access to the Tom Thumb parking lot from
Beltline Rd. not completely closed off.
I told Brundridge that at the moment there are no plans to have an officer at that location on Sunday, but would do what was necessary if a problem did arise. I told her that I had
already notified you of these same issues earlier today and that you were in contact with the Engineering Department about them. I told her the decision to leave access from Beltline
to the Tom Thumb parking lot open was made by a group individuals heading up the project. She stated that she had already contact Coppell City Hall about the need for clarity at MacArthur
and Riverchase and about closing the Beltline access to the Tom Thumb parking lot.
