Subject: BELTLINE & MACARTHUR MODERATE PRIORITY
1. EMERGENCY VEHICLE DRIVEWAY BETWEEN CRESTVIEW AND BURGER KING/SONIC SHOPPING PLAZA
Someone has opened the unlocked gates and vehicles are using this area as a cut through. I have been sitting at this location writing this email and the first one and have had almost
two dozen vehicles try and access this driveway. Does the FD have a way of locking these gates since according to the signs it is only meant for Emergency Vehicles? The Tahoes can
easily navigate around them so there is no need for the PD to unlock them.
2. SEVERE LACK OF SIGNS ON S MACARTHUR PRIOR TO THE FIRST ENTRANCE TO 820 S. MACARTHUR
For about 15 – 20 minutes this morning I posted up at the Beltline entrance to 820 stopping vehicles trying to enter and exit that location. The vehicles coming North out of Irving
said they did not see any signs saying that to access MacArthur they needed to go to Riverchase.
3. BETTER SIGN IDEAS FROM THE PUBLIC
I AM TYPING THIS IN ALL CAPITALS BECAUSE I THINK THIS MIGHT GREATLY REDUCE CUT THROUGH TRAFFIC AND DESERVES ATTENTION. THIS IDEA IS NOT MINE BUT IS FROM THE DRIVING PUBLIC. IF THERE
WERE SIGNS SAYING THAT THERE WAS “NO ACCESS TO MACARTHUR” AND / OR “ BUSINESS TRAFFIC ONLY” PLACED ON E. BELTLINE PRIOR TO 820 AND SIMILAR SIGNS SAYING “NO ACCESS TO BELTLINE” AND
“BUSINESS TRAFFIC ONLY” POSTED AT THE MACARTHUR ENTRANCE TO 820 ; A LOT OF THE PEOPLE I TALKED TO SAID THEY WOULD NOT HAVE BOTHERED CUTTING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT. IT SEEMS THAT IF
THEY ARE DIRECTLY TOLD THEY CANT ACCESS THOSE STREETS THEY WONT TRY.
