RE Excavation Qty for Coppell Road South (3)Once we agree on a quantity, we are still going to have to discuss how to handle the "Plans Quantity" issue. Keith Keith Marvin, P.E. Project Engineer (972) 304-3681 >>> "Marty Murphy" <Martym@JRJPaving.com> 1/27/2010 12:34 PM >>> I appreciate it, I thought the 5260 cy was what they had initially calculated at bid time. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Marvin [mailto:KMARVIN@ci.coppell.tx.us] Sent: Wednesday, January 27, 2010 12:27 PM To: James Scott; Marty Murphy Cc: Richard Odell; bct@freese.com Subject: Re: Excavation Qty for Coppell Road South Marty, I spoke with the engineer earlier. He advises me that there was a bust in the excavation quantity. They calculate the channel excavation at 5,260 cubic yards. They are reviewing these calculations and will send me a memo with their findings. We would like to see what the engineers quantities were on both the street and channel separately. As you can see, the channel itself is more than the bid quantity which is what caught our attention when tracking our completed quantities in house. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Marvin [mailto:kmarvin@ci.coppell.tx.us] Sent: Wednesday, January 27, 2010 9:49 AM To: James Scott Cc: Richard Odell; Caleb Thornhill; Marty Murphy Subject: RE: Excavation Qty for Coppell Road South James, I'm not sure I follow the method used to calculate this quantity. I have forwarded it to the engineer for review. In the event we agree that the quantity in the plans is significantly less than the actual quantity, how does JRJ propose to reconcile the situation? This excavation quantity is a "Plans Quantity" item, and as such we can not simply over run it. Keith Marvin, P.E. I have attached a takeoff on just the channel. The qty of excavation is more than the bid qty. Again this is just the channel, when you add in the qty of excavation for the roadway then the qty is even more off. James Scott JRJ Paving
