Dear Mr. Griffin:
We have checked the bids received on December 21, 1995 for the construction of the Village Parkway Pump
Station Addition. We are enclosing a detailed tabulation of the bids received.
North Tens Municipal Construction Company, Inc. of Dallas, Texas submitted the low bid in the mount of
$933,000 for the construction of this project. We have reviewed the information fumished by the contractor
concerning his experience and financial status. Our review of the information provided and references checked,
leads us to believe that North Texas Municipal Construction Company, Inc. has the experience, equipment and
financial capabilities to complete this project.
Separate proposals addressed to the "Successful Contractor" were received for the pumps and motors to be
fumished and installed at the pump station. We are enclosing a separate tabulation of the proposals received for
the pumps and motors. Oslin Nation, Inc. of Dallas, Texas, submitted the only pump proposal meeting all the
project requirc~xtents. Their proposal was in the mount of $48,000. The pumps proposed are IDP
(Worthington) pumps, which are the same brand as the existing pumps at the station. Other pump suppliers
submitted proposals that either did not include a two year warranty or meet the minimum pump shaR
requirements. A bid allowance in the amount of $53,000 was included in the contractor's bid for this
equipment. A change order in the deductive mount of $5,000 should be executed concurrently with the
execution of the construction contract for this project to account for the difference in the bid allowance and the
lowest acceptable bid received for the pumps and motors. Therefore, the adjusted contract amount would be
$928,000.

Accordingly, we recommend that the City of Coppell accept the bid of North Texas Municipal Construction
Company, Inc. and award them a contract for the construction of the Village Parkway Pump Station Addition in
the adjusted contract amount of $928,000.
