Re Old-Town Coppell-EmailsYour reaction is the same as mine was. If there was a way to take back the electronic files I would do it... They are provided only as a courtesy. I have offered to meet with them next week to discuss their concerns. I would like you and Dan to be there if you are available. They need to construct per the hard copy plans. If they think there is a problem or issue with a call on the plans, we will answer the question. Written questions from the contractor would be preferred versus random calls from this surveyor. On a project like this, we cannot model every inch of pavement in three dimensions to the hundredth decimal place. The surveyor needs to use the information provided and interpolate. If he feels like he needs more info in a particular area, he should submit a question in writing and we'll respond with the data. There are challenges regarding the numerous survey files done over the years that we have had to piece together. That is an issue we have all had to deal with on this project due to the number of years and multiple phases. The only solution would have been to start over from scratch but that was not something the city was willing to pay for. What do you suggest we do at this point? I'm not going to pay this guy to "fix" my drawings. The reason I am sending these is I am becoming concerned about the cost of my staking to date, as I have already blown my budget. I talked with KAZ and he tells me the Calc. time is eating up the majority of the time due to the phone and email conversations they are having with FN and the CAD files are either really old or they do not match up to the plans. Therefore KAZ is spending a lot of time correcting the CAD files so they can create an accurate stake list. I know my budget is not your concern but the issue is the inaccurate information we are being given by FN and the time my surveyor is spending fixing their files. Either I need FN to fix their own files or pay KAZ to fix it for them. As you will see some of these files are ten years old and they have had 6 or 7 engineers working on them and they cannot seem to get their ducks in a row, so to speak. Can you help me out here as I would think FN owes this information in an accurate format that can readily used? > > Marty Murphy, > Business Manager > > JRJ Paving, LP > 1805 Royal Lane, Ste. 107 > Dallas, TX. 75229 > 214-466-8340 > 214-466-8354 Fax > > From: Kirk [mailto:kirk@kazsurveying.com] > Sent: Wednesday, February 08, 2012 11:57 AM > To: Marty Murphy > Cc: dan@kazsurveying.com > Subject: Old-Town Coppell-Emails > > Marty: > Here are the Email conversations with JRJ, and Dan Prendergast at Friese & Nichols. > Additional items not in Emails: > -Intersection grade corrections at Main & Crockett, and various grade discrepancies through Crockett Street.
