FW Continuing garbage issueCan someone respond regarding this? Is there something we can/should do regarding the trash accumulating? Thanks! From: Carlos Gomez [mailto:gcgomez@tx.rr.com] Sent: Monday, September 10, 2012 5:57 PM To: Clay Phillips Subject: Continuing garbage issue Clay… Last year, about this same time, I dropped you an e-mail regarding an issue with the creek adjacent to where I live at 516 W. Bethel Rd. I have given up trying to get this to the attention of any of the city’s staff whom might have a hand on cleaning this dump site. Nobody seems to have and or assume the responsibility for collecting the vast amounts of garbage that accumulates in the creek since it was widen. Prior to all this construction we never had any garbage issues but now that we have a channel vs. the simple creek that we were able to keep clean, it’s a constant eye sore. I was cutting the grass adjacent to this channel and I noticed that it is still full of garbage. I’ve made this point on several occasions and I continue to get the same old lame excuses that the Corps of Engineers is responsible (yada, yada, yada) and the bottom line is that it keeps accumulating more and more garbage with each rainfall. Perhaps we do need to have meeting with the Corps and get their take on this and clear the air once and for all. As I stated before, in perusing their website, I do not interpret this creek as meeting any of their criteria for what the city staffers tell me is the reason for not keeping this channel clean. I know you are a very busy individual but I sure wish you had some free time to stop by for a cup of coffee or glass of iced tea and see for yourself what I see everyday. I have explained to Keith that I have a background in civil affairs, having served several years on the Traffic Advisory Board for the City of McAllen as well as on the Board of Directors for the Lower Rio Grade Development Council. As such I try to be observant of issues/problems that make cities such as Coppell rise to the top. What city staffers feel/think are minor issues such as all this garbage, investors think otherwise. You have a major development going on adjacent to this channel. I know Yancy could care less about the garbage, but those investors thinking of building restaurants, homes or other businesses may think twice after seeing what accumulates in this site. Look forward to seeing you stop by some day (will have coffee and tea ready). I look even more anxiously to seeing all this garbage cleaned up. (can’t prove it but some of it seems to be coming from Hard Eights). Regards, Carlos Gómez 516 W Bethel Rd.
