Fwd Old Town Coppell - Alley ConveyanceGary,
I spoke with Freese & Nichols about the design issues associated with
the narrowing of the residential alley paving in the Old Town project.
Freese recommends we not go any narrower than 15' due to drainage
considerations. They are working on a cost proposal to make these
modifications. Once I have that cost I will visit with Greg and Mindi
and get some direction on how to proceed.

Keith,
Attached is the alley capacity calculation sheet from the Drainage
Manual. In red is the capacity calculation for a 0.50% slope on a 10’
wide alley and a 0.50% slope on a 15’ easement/alley conveyance. If we
went with a 10’ alley, we’d need to allow for at least a 15’ easement
conveyance.
Also, the capacity of a 15’ alley at a 0.50% slope is 2.81cfs. I think
this would be sufficient for both alleys without the need to convey in
an easement.
I’ll call you in a minute to discuss
Thanks,
Dan
