Chris,
It looks like we have some good discussion items here. I’ll get with
our fire folks on hydrant locations.
We can meet to discuss these issues, but I show the TxDot meeting to be
next week, not tomorrow.

Subject: SH 121 Water Line coordination
Keith,
Hope you had good 4th! Just touching base prior to TxDOT meeting this
week regarding current action items.
1. North Coppell Road Connection
a. We have reviewed as-builts for existing water line in Coppell
Road and have discovered that the line will still be approximately 50”
deep after the TxDOT frontage road is installed.
b. As such we are indicating the less intrusive connection to the
existing water line at the south side of N. Coppell.
c. I believe that TxDOT had requested 4’ min cover. The UAR notes
min 30” cover.
2. Verizon Water Meter/Fire Vault
a. I understand that we have added the existing water meter/vault
easements to our boundary for the Verizon building and in doing so
discovered that there would be sufficient room for both the meters and
the vault to be located within their respective easements.
b. I think that the biggest hurdle will be the relocation of the
fire vault due to it’s size.
c. Has a decision been made to replace the vault within the
existing easement or is this still up in the air?
3. Warehouse Water Meters/Fire Vault.
a. As with the Verizon building I believe that we are still
waiting for a consensus on vault placement and alignment for service
connections.
4. Trees
a. As discussed there are several areas along the alignment which
will require clearing of existing trees. There are a few quality trees
that may be worth salvaging by boring under them. I mention this as I
think this is discussion worthy at the meeting tomorrow. If TxDOT is not
planning to remove these trees with their project and we make attempt to
minimize impact I’d hate for another utility to open trench along the
root line and kill something were trying to save. Just thought
noteworthy and wanted to add to the list.
5. Fire Hydrant spacing along 121.
a. Have you been able to visit with Fire Chief/Marshall regarding
hydrant spacing and preferred locations?
6. Atmos
a. Have you heard anything else from Atmos regarding ROW/Easement
encroachment at Freeport intersection?
Let us know if you’d like to meet up tomorrow for lunch prior to TxDOT
meeting to discuss.
Thanks
