Thank you again for providing a cost estimate for construction materials testing for the North Lake Dam project. After reviewing your estimated quantities for testing, FNI would like
to recommend the modifications described below and noted in the attached PDF.
The increases to soil testing quantities are based on an assumption of three months for the fill effort, resulting in a total of 180 hours from 3 hours per day for 60 days. Adjustments
to the testing quantities coincide with this assumption.
Under the "Utilities" sub-section, will you call to discuss this further? We interpreted this section as intended to account for backfill over the spillway conduit and would likely assume
those quantities to be accounted for in the increased quantities under the first section. We don't have a problem if you prefer to separate them out, but I did want to make sure we're
on the same page.
Finally, the Concrete Testing should be based on a total volume of concrete of 1,210 CY. Based on your stated assumption of one set of four cylinders per 50 CY of placed concrete, we
would get 24 sets for a total of 96 cylinders. Please adjust your estimate accordingly.
