Subject: Pumps at Trinity River
John,
We are going to repair the pump discharge lines at the pump station in
the next couple of weeks. The dresser couplings on the discharge lines
of two of the pumps had to be cut in order to remove the piping as the
two pipes in the dresser were about an inch offset which would not allow
for the dresser to be removed in one piece. We had discussed
buttstraping the discharge lines back, but as I understand it these pump
are no longer going to be run and so perhaps the city would prefer if we
left the lines as is to allow for easy removal of the pumps. As I see
it here are the options:
1. Buttstrap the discharge pipe together
2. Install new dresser couplings, this may not work given the
amount of offset in the piping
3. Leave the pipe as is to allow for easy removal/repair of the
pumps
4. AW to purchase new dresser and hand it over to the city for
installation after the pumps are rehabilitated
5. Give AW a very small change order to demolish the pump and
pumps station to prevent any further headaches for the city
6. Give AW an even smaller change order to get the pumps up and
running.
Please let me know how the city would like to proceed.
