Engineering & Environmental Consultants November 14, 1995 Mr. Mike Martin Via Fax: 304-3570 Engineering City of Coppell 255 Parkway Boulevard Coppell, Texas 75019 Subject: Enclaves on the Parkway -- Weir Erosion Control and Channel Slopes Dear Mike, We have had several contractors look at the area below the existing weir and have decided that the best solution would be to place a milsap type stone below the weir approximately four feet downstream and slope the stone back to the weir. The stone above the normal pool elevation will be grouted in place. We feel that this will control the potential erosion and in addition it is also the most aesthetically pleasing. Jimmie Beasley with Land Tech Hardscape Specialists, Inc. will be performing the work for us. He plans to move in next Wednesday, November 22 and should complete the work by Friday December 1. Although this seems like a long time please keep in mind the working conditions, access and the Thanksgiving holiday. Attached are the field elevations from Dowdey, Anderson for the slopes on the east side of the channel. As you can see we have the ability to get the required 3:1 slope, but it is not graded correctly today. The problem is we left a four to five foot shelf at the top of the slope adjacent to the existing fences. I have scheduled Texas Environmental to come in and hand grade this area and generally dress up the slope. Once this work is completed we will have met the 3:1 criteria. I expect them to move in Tuesday November 21 and finish up their work by Tuesday November 28. You ask about the existing fences along the top of the slope; since we are hand grading this area and will not really be removing material at the fence I do not believe it will cause any problems with the existing fences.
