RE: Creek Stabilization Plan for Blackberry Farm Community
Dear Mr. Griffith,
After reviewing the site and working with engineers, I believe we have come up with the best way to
stabilize Denton Creek at Blackberry Farm. Please accept this letter and its attachments as the Creek
Stabilization Plan for Denton Creek within the Blackberry Farm community.
Alpha Testing, Inc. completed a Slope Stability Study of Denton Creek as it relates to Blackberry Farm
(see attached Slope Stability Study). Alpha Testing, Inc. has concluded that the global stability of the
slope of the creek banks is acceptable. Testing shows that the banks of Denton Creek meet or exceed
the necessary standards for stable slopes. In other words, global stability of Denton Creek's banks is not
an issue. Instead, erosion of Denton Creek is the primary concern.
For the last 22 years, there has been minimal erosion to the banks of Denton Creek. Therefore, armoring
the entire bank of Denton Creek seems unnecessary and excessive. Instead, all erosion has been limited
to select areas where the creek bends sharply. Our Creek Stabilization Plan features installing rip-rap
and gabion walls at those sharp bends along Denton Creek. I am including the design of the rip-rap wall
from Henley Johnston and Associates along with the locations of all the walls. I believe this is the correct
method to stabilize the erosion of Denton Creek while preserving the natural beauty of the area.
/. nPlease review the attached information regarding Denton Creek and its stabilization. I would like to
discuss/his/plan for stabilizing Denton Creek to get your approval. Please contact me at 469.446.1165..
