Jefferson, Room 312 Dallas, Tx. 75203 Re: Coppell 2 Meter Station; Contract # 94-81 Dear Mr. Niblo: On your submittal review comments from September 18, 1997, for the above job, you asked for the dimensions of the alignment lip for the 42" tapping valve on comment # 3. I am writing this letter in response to that comment. It is standard practice of all gate valve manufacturers, to not have alignment lips on valves of this size. On a tapping valve over 12" in size, the only modification from the standard valve, is to grind away the internal body seat lugs used to install the body seats into the valve body. I have further checked with Gifford Hill American, who is supplying the tapping sleeve for this job as well as the tapping service, and they do not require a alignment lip on the tapping valve. I would therefore ask that you approve this valve as submitted in our submittal of August 13, 1997. The other comments made in regard to the original submittal, are being addressed in a separate letter to you from our Mr. Chris Bradley. Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like to discuss this matter further. Sincerely, rg9768 Dallas · Houston T I' Pi "
