Amer-Tite®-Type U. L.
Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit
Type UL Amer-Tite's
flexible steel core is sur-
rounded by a gray polyvinyl
jacket which seals out liquids,
diI-~, con-osive fumes, du~, and
salt spray. Amer-Tite offers
greater fiexibili:y and more convolutions per foot
because it is m~,dfactured with a narrow steel
~rip. Plus it is h~:-dipped galvanized and made
of heavy gau~e ~eel :o provide greater
resistance and co.~-osion protection. Amer-Tite
is designed for use with all standard liquidtight
fi~ings.
To form a "Total Lock" of jacket to steel. the
polyvinyl chloride jacket is pressure-extruded over
the core rather than tubed on in sizes 3/8" thru
I/:". Total Lock is resistant to abrasion and is not
affected by oil, gasoline, grease. and many
chemicals.
Type UL Amer-Tite is manufactured. lis:ed and
iabeled by Underwriters Labo=-atories in compliance
with UL 360 and meet. s the requirements of NEC
Al-~icie 351. A continuous copper ground is built
into the core for permanent circuit =round
protection on sizes W' thru I/:'.' The NEC requires
a separate ground wire on sizes larger than l/:".

How to specify Perma-Cote,
!mcote,' A!umi-Cote and
Perma-Cote Supreme
PERMA-COTE
1. Prior to the application of the PVC
coating, the galvanized rigid steel
conduit shall conform to Federal
Specifications WW-C 581E and
ANSI Standard C80-1, and UL
Standard #6.
2. The conduit will be hot dip
galvanized inside and out.
3. The galvanized surface will be
cleaned prior to application of an
epoxy based primer to insure a
superior anchor for the PVC coating.
4. The PVC coating shall have a
nominal thickness of 40 mils
(.040") except where part
application or configuration dictate
otherwise. The coating will have a
maximum thickness of 45 mils.
5. The PVC coating is applied to the
conduit using the ~uidized bed
method and will be free of gross,
non-uniform characteristics and
the'bond between the PVC and the
conduit shall be greater than the
tensile strength of the plastic.
6. A coupling with sleeve extensions
will be supplied separately for each
piece of conduit. All couplings and
fittings (where practicable) will
have sleeve extensions equal to the
diameter of the conduit to a
maximum length of 2".
7. All condulets and fittings
associated with the raceway system
shall be PVC coated with a nominal
thickness of 40 mils except where'
part application or configuration
dictate otherwise. All Form 8
condulets will be supplied with
stainless steel screws with
encapsulated heads.
All threads on conduit, nipples and
elbows shall be coated with a two
part chemically cured urethane
coating.
The finished conduit product shall
conform to NEMA Standard RN1
and UL laboratories Specification
#6. The coated conduit shall carry
evidence that it is listed by UL.
PERMA-COTE SUPREME
This product shall conform to the
above specifications. In addition the
following specifications apply:
10. The interior of all conduit and
fittings will be coated with a two
part chemically cured urethane
coating at a 2 rail nominal
thickness. -"
11. The urethane coating applied to the
interior of the conduit will not flake
or crack during field bending.
12. All thru feed conduit fittings
associated with a raceway will be
internally coated xvith the two part
urethane coating at a 2 mil nominal
thickness except where code or
fitting functionability prohibit.

13.
All female threads of couplings and
fittings shall be coating with a two
part chemically cured urethane
coating.

TOXICITY:
Prolonged exposure to temperatures
greater than 200°F on exposure to fire
will degrade the PVC coating and may
cause the coating to release toxic
emissions xvhich could be a potential
health hazard to persons exposed to
these emissions.
FLAMMABILITY:
The PVC coating is subjected to
sustained heat or flame above 400oF.
When the heat or flame source is
removed, the PVC is self-extinguishing.
