ATTENDANCE: Ken Griffin, P.E., Dir. of Engineering & Public Works – City of Coppell
Suzan Taylor, C.I.P. Coordinator – City of Coppell

Review Revised Alignment – The revised horizontal and vertical alignments prepared by TNP eliminate the surcharge of the existing wall between Coppell Road North and Winding Hollow.
The City did not express any concerns about the new alignments.
Horizontal Alignment from State Road to Winding Hollow
Vertical Alignment from State Road to Winding Hollow
Cross Sections showing existing retaining wall
It was noted that the new vertical alignment results in retaining walls as much as ten feet in height in phase two of the project. The style and design of the walls will be discussed
more in future meetings.
Right-of-way in front of Oakbend & Branchwood
The right-of-way taking along these lots will be to a point 13 feet back of curb to allow for a four foot landscape strip, an eight foot trail and one foot clear space. The right-of-way
taking should not encroach beyond the existing landscape buffer.
ADA Issues – TNP will schedule a meeting with Kristi Thomas of Accessology (972-434-0068) to discuss ADA issues prior to submittal of preliminary plans.
Signalization Questions from Lee Engineering
City traffic signal design standards – The City will email Lee (and Copy TNP) the current signalization specifications.
Standard example plan set? – A set was provided at the meeting.
Signal controller - type desired – A “Naztec” controller shall be provided by the contractor. This is covered in the specs.
Left turn phasing preferences – The design shall allow permissive left turns. The City will make appropriate phasing adjustments after construction.
Conduit/Pull boxes – sizes / locations – This is covered in the sample plans provided by the City.
Power
Company used & point of contact – Jeff Curry at ONCOR.
Power drops, wood vs. steel poles – Steel only, but a new pole will not likely be necessary, since the power drop can come off of an existing pole and run underground to the controller.
Opticom / preemption – Opticom on all approaches. One laptop for the system to be provided by the contractor.
Signal head orientation (horizontal / vertical) – Vertical.
Street name signage, logo? – Yes, include with the project. City to provide details with sample plans.
Illumination – not part of the signalization, but needs to be coordinated with the project relative to pole locations, etc.
Other preferences / standards
Vehicle detection technology – Video detection will be used for this project, but has not been used in City before.
Inductive loops – style and sizes
VIVDS
Setback detection
Signal Communications – All signals will be interconnected to Denton Tap via radio connection.
SSR
SSR – Ethernet
Hardwire – Twisted pair, coaxial cable, etc
State Road – Reanalyze warranting volumes with current counts? – Lee will check their contract to see what was budgeted for this work originally and whether any budget remains for a
re-count.
Set Next Meeting Date – June 24 at 9:00 am at public works.
