West Sandy Lake Road BridgeKeith
I have checked the required distance of the reinforcing to extend out
of the wing wall and found that after installing a 2” thick cap on top
of the existing northwest wing wall there would still be sufficient lap
length with the bars in the rail posts. Therefore, installing a 2”
thick concrete cap on top of the wing wall appears to be the best
solution to this problem area.
Prior to placing the concrete cap the top of the wing wall should be
thoroughly cleaned and roughened to provide for better adhesion of the
newly placed cementitious cap material. The cap material must be a
TxDOT approved material having a minimum 28 day compressive strength of
4000 psi.
