reed engineering GEOTE~HNIC~/CONSULT~NT~ August 17, 1995 Project No. 2317.2 Report No. 4 M.E.P.C. American Properties, Inc. 15303 Dallas Parkway, Suite 100, LB-10 Dallas, Texas 75248 ATTN: Mr. Rob Ahmuty Re: Construction Materials Testing Craftmade Coppell, Texas Gentlemen: Submitted here are the results of testing and observation of construction materials at the referenced project. This report addresses the activities for the period of July 21 through August 12, 1995. Water pressure injection operations continued on July 21 and 24, 1995, and were observed full-time. Injections were performed to a depth of 10 feet below present grade and extended 5 feet beyond the building line. Upon completion of the second pass of water on the northern portion of the pad, the soil moisture was evaluated by drilling and sampling 11 core borings. Borings were drilled on July 26, 1995. Continuous three-inch diameter samples were obtained to a depth of 10 feet. All samples were evaluated for consistency by use of a pocket penetrometer. Pocket penetrometer test results are summarized on Plate 1. Based on the test results and full-time observation, additional injections were not considered necessary and the building pad was approved for placement of lime and recompaction. Periodic inspections were conducted during the lime spreading operations to verify placement of 22 pounds hydrated lime per square yard. During the period of July 21 through August 12, 1995, a total of 45 field density tests were taken on the lime'-treated building pad subgrade, utility trench backfill and paving subgrade. Test results are shown on Plates 2 through 4. Where tested, materials were.found to be in compliance with project specifications, except as noted. Where materials were not in compliance, the soils were reworked and retested. Test failures and retests are noted in lower and upper case letters, respectively. 2424 STUTZ DRIVE · SUITE400 · DALLAS, TEXAS75235 · 2141350-5600 · (FAX) 214/35G-(X)19 M.E.P.C. Pier construction was observed and the piers were found to be in compliance with project plans and specifications. Pier designations and depths are shown on Plates 5 through 9. Pier designations provided on the pier log were shown on Sheet No. S-1 of the project plans. Samples of the pier concrete were obtained on a daily basis. Compressive strength test results will be submitted under separate cover. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, REED GINEERING GROU INC.
