Freeport NIP(3)-LR 950725T reed engineering GEOTECHNIC~,L CONSULTANTS July 25, 1995 Project No. 2317.2 Report No. 3 M.E.P.C. American Properties, Inc. 15303 Dallas Parkway, Suite 100, LB-10 Dallas, Texas 75248 ATTN: Mr. Rob Ahmuty Re: Construction Materials Testing Craftmade Coppell, Texas Gentlemen: Submitted here are the results of testing and observation of construction' materials at the referenced project. This report addresses the activities for the period of June 22 through July 20, 1995. During the above period, water pressure injection operations were observed full-time. Injections were ~performed to a .depth of'10 feet bel0w~present grade and extended:5~.feet' beyond the building'line... '~ Upon completion of the second pass with water, 'the s°il'moistUre ': in t~e southern half of the building pad was evaluated bY drilling and sampling 13 core borings. Borings were drilled on July 8, 10 and 13, 1995. Continuous three-inch diameter samples were obtained to' a depth of l0 feet. All samples were evaluated for consistency by use of a pocket penetrometer. Pocket penetrometer test results are summarized on Plate 1. Based on the test results and full-time observation, additional injections in this portion of the building were not considered necessary and the area was approved .for placement of lime and reworking. On July 17, 1995, a sample of the soil-lime mixture was obtained and returned to the laboratory for development of an optimum moisture- density relationship (Standard Proctor Curve). Results are shown on Plate 2. On July 18 and 19, 1995, a total of 34 field density tests were taken on ~he.lime-treated subgrade. Test results are presented on Plates 3 and 4. Where tested, materials were found to be in compliance with proje~sPecifications,' except as noted.' Where materials, were not. in compliance, the soils were reworked andPretested. Test~.failures and retests are noted in lower and upper case letters, respectively. . 2424 STUTZ DRIVE · SUITE400 · DALLAS, TEXAS75235 · 214/350-5600 · .(FAX) 214/350-0019 M.E.P.C.
