This report addresses activities for the period of September 23 through October 25, 1991. On October 2 and 10, 1991, two samples of the select fill material were obtained and returned to the laboratory for development of optimum moisture-density relationships (Standard Proctor Curves). Test results of the Atterberg Limit test are shown on the moisture- density curve, Plates 1 and 2, Curve Nos. 4 and 5. During the period of September 23 through October 18, 1991, a total of 93 field density tests were taken on the subgrade and natural fill. Test results are shown on Plates 3 through 6. Materials were found to be in compliance with project specifications, except as. noted. Where materials were not in compliance, the soils were reworked and retested. Test failures and retests are noted in lower and upper case letters, respectively. Construction of piers was initiated on October 16, 1991. Pier construction was observed and the piers were found to be in compliance with project plans and specifications. Pier depths are summarized on Plates 7 through 10. Pier designations provided on the pier log were shown on Sheet No. S1.2/S1.1 of the project plans. Tests of the pier concrete were obtained on a daily basis.
