Soil samples obtained at random locations from the exposed pavement subgrade have been tested for the presence of
soluble sulfates, Soils Sulfate induced heave in soil has been known to occur on a local basis in the residual soils of
Eagle Ford formation. The project site is located over soils formed from Alluvium and Quaternary deposits
associated with the Trinity River system, overlying the woodbine Formation and / or Eagle Ford Formation.
Residual soils of the Eagle Ford Formation may be located near the contact with the Undivided Alluvium and
Quaternary deposits. Therefore, soluble sulfate content in subgrade soils of the streets in the referenced site should
be tested and verified. Results of the laboratory testing using EPA 9038 method on the samples obtained are
tabulated below.

The measured soluble sulfate concentrations are considered to be low (less than 2000 ppm). Based on results of the
above referenced laboratory tests, the exposed subgrade should be treated by single application in accordance with
City of Coppell specifications.
