100% acrylic, textured
coating for interior
and exterior surfaces.
DESCRIPTION
Thorocoat is a ready mixed non-cementitious
100% acrylic, textured coating specifically
designed to protect and decorate a wide
variety of exterior and interior surfaces. It is
heavy bodied to fill pores in concrete block or
create a pleasing texture on smooth surfaces.
Thorocoat contains a superior emulsion
polymer with a uniquely combined and
balanced monomer composition. The formu-
lation of selected materials assures ease of
application as well as excellent storage and
handling properties.
USES
Thorocoat is a decorative coating for block,
concrete, plaster, masonry, brick, Thoroseal,
Thoroseal Plaster Mix and Thoro Stucco.
Thorocoat can be used on any clean, solid
above-grade exterior surface where a rich,
sand texture, non-gloss, water repellent
finish is desired, or it can be used on interior
surfaces above or below-grade. While
disguising surface defects, Thorocoat
provides a beautiful finish.
ADVANTAGES
· Passed ASTM E84-75.
· Low temperature coalescence (ability to fuse
together to form a continuous film at low
tem pe ratu res.
· Resistant to erosion by abrasive cleaning
action, provides a tough, durable finish.
· Blisterproof, thicker than ordinary paint,
permitting cracks and pores to be water
resistant, but allows "breathing" to release
moisture.
· Superior adhesion qualities.
· Tough, long lasting film. Will not become
brittle.
· Excellent color selection.
· Extraordinary color retention.
· Labor, time and cost saving.
· Passed 5000 hour Weatherometer test.
· Easy clean up with soap and water.
APPLICATION
Thorocoat is a heavy, resin-base texture
coating, consequently, thorough mixing is
essential. Mix Thorocoat with a metal paddle
or electric mixer to assure a complete, uniform
dispersion throughout. Surfaces to receive

dirt, grease and all loose materials. Protect
all surfaces not to be coated. In extreme hot,
dry climates slight dampening of the surface
is acceptable prior to the application of
Thorocoat. This will reduce brush or roller
drag and lap-edge under such Conditions.
Application of Thorocoat can be made by
brush, spray or roller. For application by
roller, use a aA" (.98 cm) nap type roller, fully
bodied. It is preferable to use vertical strokes;
cross rolling is permissible. DO NOT OVER
ROLL. Apply Thorocoat in a heavy,
unstretched, uniform manner in one direction.
Rinse roller or brush frequently in clean
water during application. CLEAN UP WITH
SOAPY WATER.

WATERPROOF AND DECORATIVE COATINGS
THOROSEAL®
Thoroseal is a cement-base, aggregate
type, heavy-duty waterproof coating for
concrete and masonry. The aggregates
are graded and sized so as to mesh
perfectly; are selected for pudty, hard-
ness, and structural strength and are
non-metallic. When they are combined
with other ingredients a free flowing,
waterproof coating is produced that
possesses high strength, great durability
and density.
Advantages
A heavy, cement-base, coating that
breathes thereby preventing water vapor
build-up which causes blistering, flaking
and peeling of non-breathing coatings.
Exceptional filling and sealing qualities
assure complete protection, eliminates
the need for tuck-pointing old brick
buildings. Far outlasts other coatings and
thin, paint films. Easy to apply, no special
equipment needed. thereby reducing
labor. Not affected by prolonged
exposure to constant moisture.
USeS
waterproofing concrete, block, brick,
stone and other masonry; interior and
exterior, above or below grade. Water-
proofing stucco and cement plaster
Waterproofing water reservoirs, tunnels,
swimming pools, cisterns, basements
and cellars. Waterproof back plastering
for limestone panels. Also recommended
as a base coat for Super Quickseal,
Thorosheen and Thorocoat. Waterproof
and finish concrete, eliminating the
need for rubbing.
Suggested Short Form
Specification
Surface to be coated must be structurally
sound, clean and free of dirt. loose mortar
particles, paint, films, protective coatings,
efflorescence, taitance, etc. Concrete
to receive Thoroseal should be carefully
formed to provide a smooth surface,
free of form marks and in condition to
receive a coating of approximately 1/8"
(3 mm) thickness.
Do not use form treatments that might stain
or otherwise injure the concrete or prevent
a good bond for cement-base coatings.
Cut tie rods, steel separators back to a
depth of 1" (2.5 cm) and patch all holes,
cracked and spalied concrete, and
honeycombed areas with Thodte.
Dampen surface immediately ahead of
application with clean water. MixThoroseal
with clean water as directed on container;
i.e. for normal brush coat consistency, a 50
Ib. (22.7 kg) bag of Thoroseal will require
approximately 2 gallons (7.5 ~ ) of mixing
water. (To improve bonding on smooth or
dense concrete and masonry and for all
trowel applications. prepare a mixing liquid
consisting of 1 part Acryl 60 to 3 parts of
clean water. Increase the Acryl 60 con-
centration for more difficult surfaces. Use
this mixing liquid in each application.
Dampen the surface slightly with clean
water, if necessary, to improve workability.)
Do not apply Thoroseal as you would
a thin paint coat; lay it on the surface and
level it out so as to fill and seal all the
pores and voids.
Details of Specific
Applications

straightened to line and grade: the surface
will be immediately covered with a thin
layer of previously°mixed Thoroseal,
averaging 4 Ibs. to each sq. yd. (2 kg/m=)
of surface and floated into the concrete in
such manner that the Thornseal applica-
tion cannot be observed as a finish coat
or any of it remain on the surface. The
concrete slab should be troweled with a
smooth finish. Acryl 60 can be added to
the mixing water for extra density.
