Gentlemen:
Submitted here is a supplemental geotechnical recommendation for the referenced
project. It is understood that consideration is being given to use "flexible" base in lieu
of the lime stabilization for the pavement in driveway and parking areas. "Flexible "
base is defined as TxDOT Item 247, Grade 2, Type A (Crushed limestone) or crushed
concrete meeting Grade 2 requirements. Six inches of "flexible" base is equivalent to
eight inches of lime stabilization.
"Flexible" base should be placed in accordance with the Earthwork section of our
report. This should be confirmed by testing as outlined in the Construction
Observation and Testing Frequency section. Both of these sections are provided in
the original report.
