Subject: Denton Tap and Sandy Lake Monument Signs
Mike,
Just a quick update on the monument signs…
We met with Pavecon the prime contractor on the Denton Tap Sandy Lake Streetscape project this morning.
They agree with the following:
1) That the letters provided on the monument are incorrect. Plans call for 2” deep and they are 3”.
2) The letters are crooked. Not just in plan view but also in depth off the face of the brick.
3) The fit and finish of the monument signs is poor. Mortar joints etc.
They will be getting with their sub to communicate these issues with them. What does all this mean? Well, there is no
question the letters need to be replaced… this gives us the opportunity to look at different styles and colors. Pavecon
will be looking into it as well as Engineering staff. I will probably talk with Matt S. as he also has a good eye and
experience in signs. Unfortunately, they tell me there is no “catalog” for this type of signage.
Thank You, George
