Mike,
Please review the attached comment letter and let me know if you’d like for me to send on to the engineer. I will CC you
and George on the correspondence.
I wanted to point out to you one comment out in particular – Comment 14: The modeling output is showing an
encroachment within the floodway at cross section 12539 and a 0.03-foot rise in the Base Flood Elevation (FEMA 100-
year WSE), which is not allowed per FEMA Criteria. FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program regulations prohibit
encroachments within the floodway unless the encroachment doesn’t cause an increase in BFEs.
Thanks,
Kate

Mike,
I plan to send you the comment letter tomorrow with my comprehensive list of comments. One general
comment I have is that there are discrepancies when comparing top width distances on the floodplain
workmaps versus the hydraulic modeling output. The discrepancies are not allowed per FEMA criteria. I
also see some inconsistencies when I compare the hydraulic model’s geometry to the topographic
information shown on the workmaps. I do suggest at minimum these two general comments be
addressed before sending on to the FEMA to ensure modeling accuracy.
Thanks,
Kate

Kate,
Can you provide me an update on this? Does there appear to be any major comments that will need to
be addressed prior to sending to FEMA or do you think we will be ready to submit to FEMA?
Thanks,
Mike
