At the end of the day, Impact fees are charged based on the capability of the flow through the meter. Increasing the size of the meter from a 1” to 2” is not a double in flow it is more like 3.19 times the flow. Initial impact fee charged was $900 for wastewater and $900 for water (5/8”x3/4” meter – standard single family residential meter is 1 ESU) Paid 9/16/16 Revised plan to add 1” domestic and 1” irrigation Water Impact ESU is 3.34 (1.67+1.67) Wastewater Impact ESU is 1.67 (don’t charge wastewater for irrigation) total ESU 5.01 2 Each ESU is multiplied by $900 = $4,509.00 Credit of $1,800 given for initial permit. Total Prior Payments: 7.01 ESU $6,309.00 New plan totals: 1 – 2” water meter = 5.33 ESU 1 – 1” Irrigation = 1.67 ESU Fire Line = 2.5 ESU (Not sure why this wasn’t charged before) Wastewater = 5.33 ESU Total: = 14.83 ESU @ $900 =$13,347.00 Subtract $6,309 = $7,038.00 There are other Meter deposit fees and inspection fees that I don’t deal with but Building Inspections could provide clarity on that piece. This is a follow up letter regarding the 2” water meter. We had purchased (2) 1” water meters. Once for irrigation and one for domestic. Our engineer had reviewed the drawings and revised the sizes for both the domestic water meter and the irrigation meter. Therefore, we will need to return the (2) 1” water meters and purchase (1) 2” water meter for the domestic. Please let us know what will be the next step and how we are to switch the meters.
