Redi-Mix’s strength guarantee per ASTM C94 will not be effective unless the field sampling has been done per ASTM C172 and ASTM C31 and the laboratory testing fully complies with ASTM C39 and ASTM C1077. Redi-Mix will also guarantee the strength performance of the mix designs submitted for a concrete temperature between 55°F and 95°F provided the design plastic properties are not exceeded and the concrete is placed within 90 minutes of batch time. This concrete temperature range shall not supersede any more restrictive temperature specification. All concrete should be placed and cured with the appropriate ACI guidelines and recommendations for hot and cold weather concreting. Redi-Mix cannot be responsible for non-conformance of strength if cylinders are not cured per ACI 301, section 1.6.3.2.d. Hot weather concreting practices will require the purchaser to order ice and/or chilled water to meet concrete temperature specifications. The purchaser shall be responsible for precautions taken against excessive wind, heat and low humidity per ACI 305 guidelines. The purchaser shall assume responsibility for any concrete defects related to the finishing process (cracking, scaling, dusting, delamination, discoloration, etc.), which is beyond Redi-Mix’s control. This includes proper preparation, compaction and wetting of subgrade as well as proper spacing and depth of joints and rebar. During periods of cold weather, all concrete surfaces should be protected from freezing for at least the first 24 hours after placement to allow the concrete to attain a compressive strength of 500 psi. Should the purchaser elect not to order temperature control measures, the purchaser shall then assume all liability for costs associated with rejected concrete due to non-compliant concrete temperature. According to ACI 304.2R Section 4.2.1 “Placing Concrete by Pumping Methods”, the inside diameter of the hose should be a minimum of 3 times the maximum angular aggregate size of the concrete. (ASTM C33 allows #57LS to have up to 5% retained on the 1” sieve). It is recommended to minimize or eliminate the free fall of concrete to avoid loss of air content. Depending on boom configurations, alterations to the mix design may be required. With regard to pumped concrete, the various boom configurations, length of hose, line reductions and free fall distance are beyond Redi-Mix’s control and we therefore cannot be responsible for loss of air content or any costs associated with either rejected fresh concrete or the removal and replacement of hardened concrete due to non-compliant air content resulting from this or from placing concrete outside of the slump range specified on the mix design. We thank you for allowing us to submit these documents for your review. Please copy Redi-Mix with the approved submittal. The approved submittal allows Redi-Mix to review any notes, comments or exceptions made by the engineer or owner relating to the specification. Failure to notify us prior to first placement shall constitute acceptance of the submitted mix designs and submittal provisions. Please order by mix number when scheduling concrete delivery. We request that Redi-Mix be added to the list of names receiving copies of testing laboratory information for this project. ASTM C94 entitles a manufacturer to receive copies of all test reports when strength of concrete is used as a basis for acceptance. This information is another tool for Redi-Mix to review and monitor the quality and performance of the concrete product delivered. In the event of limited material availability, substitution of a similar performing material may be required. All substituted materials will meet the appropriate ASTM requirements. In order to maintain the required mix volume, weights of individual materials may be varied to accommodate different material specific gravities. Material certifications for substituted materials are available upon request. The information within this submittal is confidential and the exclusive property of Redi-Mix. It shall not be disseminated to third parties without written permission from Redi-Mix Concrete. Please contact Technical Services with any questions at (817) 835-4077. DESCRIPTION Fritz-Pak Super Air Plus is a dry powdered admix- ture, packaged in patented ready-to-use water-sol- uble bags or in bulk (50 lb bags). Super Air Plus is recommended for all types of air entrained concrete when an increase in entrained air content is neces- sary. Super Air Plus may also be used as a primary air-entraining admixture. Super Air Plus is compat- ible with all standard concrete admixtures. DIRECTIONS 1. If entrained air content is below the specifi ed level, determine which Air Plus product is required. (See Recommended Dosage Rate). 2. Each Super Air Plus package is double bagged. Remove the protective outer bag and add the water- soluble Fritz-Pak inner bag to plastic concrete. The entire inner bag will easily dissolve. 3. Mix at high speed for 5 to 7 minutes to insure that the Super Air Plus is uniformly dispersed throughout the mix. 4. If entrained air content remains below specifi ed levels, more Super Air Plus may be added. RECOMMENDED DOSAGE RATE FOR CONCRETE: Super Air Plus. For larger increases in entrained air content, use one 8-oz bag (227 g) of Super Air Plus to increase the entrained air content for a full load of concrete by ¾ to 2%. For use as a primary air- entraining admixture, a Super Air Plus dosage rate of 0.25 to 1.25 oz./cwt. (0.15 to 0.80 g/kg) is recom- mended to achieve 5 to 7% entrained air content. Cementitious content, concrete temperature, ambi- ent temperature or concrete mixes containing ac- celerators, retarders, or special admixtures such as superplasticizers or silica fume may require dosage rates outside the recommended range. Contact your Fritz-Pak distributor with any questions concerning the dosage rates for these products. It is recom- mended that testing be done to determine the suit- ability of Super Air Plus to your mix designs. FOR ONE YARD TRAILER MIXERS: Use specially packaged product in 4 oz. water-solu- ble bags. (Item #95661). FOR MORTARS AND DRY BLENDED PRODUCTS: Super Air Plus can be used as an air entraining agent for the production of mortars and other dry blended materials. Up to 16% air entrainment can be obtained with Super Air Plus. Air contents vary considerably depending on the materials used. Use the following table as a guideline: Desired Air Content Dosage of Super Air Plus By weight of cement By total weight of blend 5-7%0.25-1.25 oz/cwt 0.15-0.80 g/kg 0.9-4.5 oz/ton 28-141 g/MT 7-10%1.0-4.0 oz/cwt 0.63-2.5 g/kg 5.0-12.0 oz/ton 156-375 g/MT 10-15%4.0-6.0 oz/cwt 2.5-3.75 g/kg 14.0-22.0 oz/ton 438-688 g/MT COMPATIBILITY Super Air Plus is compatible with all air-entraining admixtures, calcium chloride and other admixtures. When used with other admixtures, each one must be dispensed separately into the mix. APPLICABLE STANDARDS Super Air Plus meets ASTM C-260, AASHTO M-154 & CRD C-13 specifi cations. PACKAGING • 8-oz. What does increased air content do to concrete? A. It increases its durability by making it more resistant to damage from freezing. Q. Will it change the set time? A. No, it will not speed or slow the set. Q. What standards does Super Air Plus meet? A. They meet ASTM C-260, AASHTO M-154 and CRD C-13 standards. Q. Will it affect the strength of my concrete? A. It will not signifi cantly change strength, and it will increase durability. Q. What is the difference between Super Air Plus and Air Plus? A. Super Air Plus has twice the concentration of the active ingredient of Air Plus. Q. Which product should I use, Air Plus or Super Air Plus? A. Air Plus should be used by concrete producers who have very consistent quality in their supply of raw materials, thus only needing small corrections of air. Concrete producers that have variation in their quality of raw materials normally experience wider fl uctuations in air content and should consider using Super Air Plus. Q. What is the raw material used in the production of Super Air Plus? A. Vinsol Resin, a natural air entrainer. Q. Are these products compatible with synthetic air entrainers? A. Yes. Additionally the spacing and size of air bubbles is improved when natural air entrainers are used to correct synthetic air entrainers. Q. Can they be used in dry-blended materials like mortars and stuccos? A. Yes. See the recommended dosage rate chart. Q. Are Super Air Plus and Air Plus effective in concrete with fl y ash containing high levels of organic compounds (i.e. high LOI)? A. Yes. Natural air entrainers are more effective than synthetic air entrainers. Q. Can I add Super Air Plus or Air Plus to water to make a liquid admixture? A. No. Some of the components will only dissolve under special conditions of temperature and pH. Q. How long have the products been in the market? A. Since 1992. Product Data Sheet Description Evergrip 990 is a concrete joint sealant made with a unique blend of asphalts enriched with high grade polymer. Available in convenient strips, Evergrip 990 is a preformed, ready-to-use, flexible gasket that provides an excellent seal for concrete pipes, culverts, manholes and other precast concrete joints. Typical Physical Properties Storage and Handling Evergrip 990 should be stored in a dry area protected from the elements. Cartons should not be stacked over six high. Conditions should preclude contamination of the joint sealant by any foreign material such as silt or mud during the installation process. In hot weather, the material tends to soften; dipping sealant strips in cool water will allow easier release of the paper. Conversely, in cool weather, the material stiffens; dipping strips in warm water or storing in a warm area prior to use will aid in paper release. Application Concrete surfaces to which the sealant is to be applied must be clean and dry. All mud, dirt, grease, oil, and loose particles should be removed from the surfaces. The release paper should be stripped from only one side of sealant. The outside paper should be left in place to protect the sealant from contamination and stretching. The sealant strips should be attached end to end to the leading edge of the tongue or groove of each pipe joint until a continuous gasket is established around the entire circumference of the pipe joint. The material should be pressed firmly into place through the outside release paper. The outside paper should be removed just prior to jointing the pipe. Contaminating the exposed sealant with any foreign materials should be strictly avoided. Care should be taken not to disturb the gasket placement. Any contaminated sealant should be removed and replaced and any displaced strips should be repositioned prior to jointing the pipes. See pipe manufacturer's instructions for proper pipe jointing procedures. Excess sealant may be either trimmed with a putty knife or rolled to a smooth finish. The trench can be backfilled as soon as the joining process has been completed. Clean-up Excess sealant should be scraped off surfaces. Asphalt stains can be removed with non-hazardous, bio-degradable cleaners. Waterless hand cleaner should be used on skin, following the cleaner manufacturer’s instructions carefully. Flammable or combustible petroleum based solvents should not be used. SERIES 2500 RESILIENT WEDGE GATE VALVE FEATURES/BENEFITS/SPECIFICATIONS 2 The Series 2500 Ductile Iron 250 p.s.i.g. AWWA Resilient Wedge Gate Valve is designed for use in drinking water, sewage, and fire protection systems as well as irrigation and backflow control systems. Ductile Iron Construction The ductile iron body, bonnet, and wedge provide strength and a pressure rating that meets or exceeds the requirements of AWWA C515. Strength more than doubles that provided by cast gray iron designs, and the pressure rating is 250 p.s.i.g. All this strength and higher pressure rating is provided in a compact, lightweight, and easy-to-handle ductile iron valve. Fusion-Bonded Epoxy The Series 2500 valve is fully epoxy coated on the interior and the exterior. The fusion-bonded coating is applied prior to assembly so that even the bolt holes and body-to-bonnet flange surfaces are fully epoxy coated. Triple O-Ring Stem Seals This valve features triple O-Ring stem seals. Two O-Rings are located above, and one O-Ring is located below the thrust collar. The lower two O-Rings provide a permanently sealed lubrication chamber that will make the valve easier to operate over a longer period of time. The upper O-Ring ensures that sand, dirt, or grit cannot enter the valve to cause damage to the lower O-Rings. This is especially important for buried and sewage service applications. Thrust Washers Two thrust washers are used. One is located above, and one is located below the thrust collar. These thrust washers ensure easy operation at all times. No Flat Gaskets The body-to-bonnet and bonnet- to-bonnet cover seals are pressure- energized O-Rings. This eliminates the need for excessive bolt loading, which is required by designs that use flat gaskets. The O-Rings are reusable, which eliminates downtime during any needed repair. The Series 2500 Resilient Wedge Gate Valve is furnished in configurations that are Listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. and Approved by Factor y Mutual Research Corp. FEATURES SERIES 2500 RESILIENT WEDGE GATE VALVE RWGV1 • UL Listed-FM Approved • Seat Tested at 500 p.s.i.g. • Fusion-Bonded-Epoxy Coating Complies With ANSI/AWWA C550 • 250# Raised Face Flanges Available • Ductile Iron Body, Bonnet, Wedge, Operating Nut, and Stuffing Box • Shell Tested at 500 p.s.i.g. • 250 p.s.i.g. EBAA Iron started manufacturing joint restraint products for PVC pipe in the early 1980s. The testing of early prototypes of various configurations of restraints on large diameter PVC pipe indicated that a restraint device must be capable of consistently and reliably gripping the pipe. If not, the restraint can slip under pressure, resulting in sudden impact, and cause the pipe to burst. Armed with this background knowledge and an appreciation for the capabilities of PVC pipe, EBAA purposefully deviated from what many in the industry once considered to be the "only" way to grip PVC pipe. This led to the development of the Series 2000PV restraint. The design of the 2000PV incorporates the gripping mechanism into the design of the mechanical joint gland and utilizes a simple two part assembly process. The first step involves assembling the joint the same as any standard mechanical joint. The assembly procedure we recommend is that established in AWWA C600. The second is the actuation of the restraint. The 2000PV Concept The 2000PV mechanical joint restraint is the fastest and most economical method of restraining PVC pipe to mechanical joints. Now the need for costly concrete thrust blocks and corrodible steel tie rods is eliminated. It can be used in straight alignment or at the preset deflection recommended for the mechanical joint. The 2000PV was the first PVC joint restraint to be tested to UNI-B-13, Underwriters Laboratories, and Factory Mutual. Tested to and meets the requirements of ASTM F 1674-96 "Standard" Test Method for Joint Restraint Products for Use with PVC Pipe" through 24 inch size. UL-listed in the four through twelve inch sizes for joining UL- listed ductile iron fittings to UL-listed, Class 150 PVC pressure pipe. The maximum allowable joint deflection is five degrees. Factory Mutual approved for use on DR18 PVC pipe in four through twelve inch sizes. Series 2000PV: Mechanical Joint Restraint Gland for use with C900 or IPS OD PVC Pipe FM APPROVED U L® ASTMF1674 Series 2000PV Takes the Load On April 11, 1997 EBAA Iron performed a remarkable force demonstration of their Series 2000PV joint restraint. With the use of EBAA's Series 2000PV using a standard mechanical joint installation on 12 inch PVC Pipe, and a 80 Ton motor crane, EBAA Iron lifted a D7 Caterpillar Track Type Tractor weighing in at 50,350 lbs. Along with this, the Series 2000PV has been tested to over 700 PSI. Concluding that EBAA's Series 2000PV can take the load. EBAA IRON Sales, Inc.P.O. The 4" through 12" size may be used on both C900 and IPS PVC pipe. Check to see if the spacers under the screws are in place. If the pipe is C900, proceed with spacers in place. If the pipe is IPS OD, remove the spacers. Since the 3" and the 14" through 24" restraints are only used with one pipe diameter, no spacers are used. Clean the socket and the plain end. Lubrication and additional cleaning should be provided by brushing both the gasket and the plain end with soapy water or approved pipe lubrication meeting the requirements of ANSI/AWWA C111/A21.11, just prior to slipping the gasket onto the plain end for joint assembly. Place the gland on the plain end with the lip extension toward the plain end, followed by the gasket. Tighten the bolts to the normal range of bolt torque (45-60 ft-lbs for 3", 75-90 ft-lbs for 4" through 24", 100-120 ft-lbs for 30" and 36", and 120-150 ft-lbs for 42" and 48") while at all times maintaining approximately the same distances between the gland and the face of the flange at all points around the socket. This can be accomplished by partially tightening the bottom bolt first, then the top bolt, next the bolts at either side, finally the Insert the pipe into the socket and press the gasket firmly and evenly into the gasket recess. Keep the joint straight during assembly. Push the gland toward the socket and center it around the pipe with the gland lip against the gasket. Insert bolts and hand tighten nuts. Make deflection after joint assembly but before tightening bolts. remaining bolts. Repeat the process until all bolts are within the appropriate range of torque. The use of a torque indicating wrench will facilitate this procedure. Tighten the torque limiting twist off nuts in a clockwise direction (direction indicated by arrow on top of nut) until all wedges are in firm contact with the pipe surface. Continue tightening in an alternating manner until all of the nuts have been twisted off. If removal is necessary, utilize the 5/8" hex heads provided. If reassembly is required, assemble the joint in the same manner as above, tighten the screws to 60 to 80 ft- lbs. If the Series 2000PV restraint is removed from the pipe, be sure that all of the screws, spacers (if required), and wedges are in place before the restraint is reassembled. * These steps are requirements of AWWA. Series 2000PV: Mechanical Joint Restraint Gland for use with C900 or IPS OD PVC Pipe FM APPROVED UL® ASTMF1674 Series 2000PVTakes the LoadOn April 11, 1997 EBAA Ironperformed a remarkable force demonstration oftheir Series 2000PV joint restraint. With the use of EBAA's Series 2000PVusing a standard mechanical joint installation on 12 inch PVC Pipe, and a 80 Ton motorcrane, EBAA Iron lifted a D7 Caterpillar Track Type Tractor weighing in at 50,350 lbs.Along with this, the Series 2000PV has been tested to over 700 PSI. Concluding thatEBAA's Series 2000PV can take the load. EBAA IRON Sales, Inc.P.O. The 4" through 12" size maybe used on both C900 and IPS PVC pipe.Check to see if the spacers under thescrews are in place. If the pipe is C900,proceed with spacers in place. If the pipeis IPS OD, remove the spacers. Since the3" and the 14" through 24" restraints areonly used with one pipe diameter, nospacers are used.Clean the socket and the plain end.Lubrication and additional cleaning shouldbe provided by brushing both the gasketand the plain end with soapy water orapproved pipe lubrication meeting therequirements of ANSI/AWWAC111/A21.11, just prior to slipping thegasket onto the plain end for jointassembly. Place the gland on the plain endwith the lip extension toward the plain end, followed by the gasket.Tighten the bolts to the normal range ofbolt torque (45-60 ft-lbs for 3", 75-90 ft-lbsfor 4" through 24", 100-120 ft-lbs for 30"and 36", and 120-150 ft-lbs for 42" and48") while at all times maintainingapproximately the same distancesbetween the gland and the face of theflange at all points around the socket. Thiscan be accomplished by partially tighteningthe bottom bolt first, then the top bolt, nextthe bolts at either side, finally theInsert the pipe into the socket and pressthe gasket firmly and evenly into thegasket recess. Keep the joint straightduring assembly.Push the gland toward the socket andcenter it around the pipe with the gland lipagainst the gasket. Insert bolts and handtighten nuts. Make deflection after jointassembly but before tightening bolts.remaining bolts. Repeat the process untilall bolts are within the appropriate range oftorque. The use of a torque indicatingwrench will facilitate this procedure.Tighten the torque limiting twist off nuts ina clockwise direction (direction indicatedby arrow on top of nut) until all wedges arein firm contact with the pipe surface.Continue tightening in an alternatingmanner until all of the nuts have beentwisted off.If removal is necessary, utilize the 5/8" hexheads provided. If reassembly is required, assemble the joint in the same manner asabove, tighten the screws to 60 to 80 ft-lbs. If the Series 2000PV restraint isremoved from the pipe, be sure that all ofthe screws, spacers (if required), andwedges are in place before the restraint isreassembled.* These steps are requirements of AWWA.AWWA Standards, C600, Sec. 3.4.21.* 2.* 3.* 4.* 5 .6 .7 .Spacer InstructionsFor installation onASTM 2241sized pipe, removespacers and replacescrews.
