As Far as I know, we are still using a 2” meter that’s approved in the plans. Also on page 4150 in the Standard Details, that’s not a choice, that’s the setup for either the 1-1/2” or 2” meters. The last conversation that we had about the meter was using existing meter for the domestic, but the plan says to use that meter for irrigation. I can’t tell you to proceed with an install of another meter. The City of Coppell give us the option of using 2” or 1 ½” water meter see Coppell Standards Construction details page 4150 We purchased the 1 ½”meter required by the Project's Mechanical Engineer. The problem of changing the 1 ½’ water meter for 2” water meter would be that we would impact the cost, because we would have to pay $ 3800 extra for a 2” water meter. Appreciate your help and support for this issue. As you’re aware the meter changed or reduced to a 1.5” at the owners request; however we now have the set up for a 2” meter that is of course larger than what is required for a 1.5” meter. We can use reducers and fittings to make this work; however the city usually (especially on new construction) want everything to be a match for the proposed meter which means we would have to change out the meter set to a 1.5” to make it work. I need to find out if the city will allow us to reduce down inside the meter box from a 2” to 1.5” and make the meter work as it sets now. If so, no problem, if not, then we’ll have to write a CO to cover the cost of the installation to accommodate the 1.5” meter.
