Either provide a new line from the main or use the 2" as shown on the civil plans. This should have been considered prior to going to construction. Thank You, George. It reads: “Back on 9/1, the MEP engineer confirmed that we could meet the needs of the facility w/ a 1-1/2” water meter based on the flow data provided by Links. We conveyed this fact to Links and the Owner at this time. The Owner went and paid for the 1-1/2” meter. We received this RFI earlier today. As the meter is in the civil scope, can you please review and respond to this RFI?” The RFI from the utility subcontractor reads: 1 “Per plans, Utilitex (Utility Subcontractor) installed a 2" domestic tap and service for a proposed 2" domestic meter. As everyone is aware, the meter changed or reduced to a 1.5" at the owners request; however we now have the set up for a 2" meter that is of course larger than what is required for a 1.5" meter. We can use reducers and fittings to make this work; however the City of Coppell usually, especially on new construction, wants everything to be a match for the proposed meter which means we would have to change out the meter set to a 1.5" to make it work. We need to know if the city will allow us to reduce down inside the meter box from a 2" to 1.5" and make the meter work as it sets now. If the City of Coppell will allow this, there is no problem. If the City of Coppell will not allow this then we will have to price out the cost of the installation to accommodate the 1.5" meter. Please advise.” As you know, the meter cost and impact fees are quite expensive for a 2-inch meter. If we have to re-tap the main and rerun 1.5” copper line, any saving will be lost. It seems like a large waste of time, materials and money to rerun the copper. Please let us know if we can reduce the line with fittings inside the meter box as is described above.
