Duke Lesley 4C-CS170926 Big D Concrete, Inc 10361 Bickham Rd. Dallas, TX 75220 873 Wall Street Rd., Gunter, TX 75058 SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 To: COWTOWN EXCAVATION & CONCRETE, LLC Project: TRU by HILTON RE: Submittal Documents Please find enclosed our submittal documents for the above referenced project. Big D will guarantee strength according to ASTM C94 only if field sampling has been accomplished per ASTM C172 and ASTM C31 and the laboratory testing also fully complies with ASTM C39 and ASTM C1077. Big D Concrete will not guarantee strength for the mix designs submitted if the following conditions occur : 1.) the concrete temperature is below 55 degrees or above 95 degrees, 2.) the design plastic properties à ÅslumpÆ is exceeded by additional water added on site, 3.) the concrete is not placed within 90 minutes of the batch time. It is the purchaserÈs responsibility to inform Big D Concrete of any planned or unplanned delays during the pouring process so deliveries can be coordinated. The concrete temperature requirements stated above shall not supersede any more restrictive temperatures specifications. For concrete ordered during hot weather, Big D Concrete will require the purchaser to order ice to meet concrete temperature specifications. All concrete shall be placed and cured according to the appropriate ASTM guidelines and recommendations for hot and cold weather concreting. Test cylinders must be cured per ACI 301, section 1.6.3.2.d for Big D Concrete to guarantee strength. It will be the purchaserÈs responsibility for precautions to protect the placed concrete from excessive heat, wind, rain, hail, and low humidity per ACI 305 guidelines. Big D Concrete will not take responsibility for concrete defects relating to the finishing process, (cracking, scaling, dusting, delamination, discoloration, etc. This also includes proper preparation, compaction, and wetting of the subgrade or forms - especially during hot weather, as well as the proper placement of rebar and control joints. During periods of cold weather, it is the purchaserÈs responsibility to protect the concrete from freezing during the initial curing period à the first 7 days. Big D Concrete will not be responsible for any concrete rejected for non-compliance of concrete temperatures for not ordering or declining temperature control measures à hot water in cold temperatures or ice during excessive heat. Big D Concrete emphasizes the need to avoid free fall of concrete which result in the loss of air. For pumped concrete with different boom configurations, hose extensions, line reductions, and free fall distances which are all out of Big D ConcreteÈs control, Big D Concrete will not be responsible for any loss of air content or costs associated with either rejected fresh concrete or the removal and replacement of hardened concrete due to the non-compliance of required air content or placing concrete outside of the specified slump range or exceeding the time limitations of concrete placement. Thank you for the opportunity to submit these documents. We are requesting a copy of the approved submittal. Please order by our designated mix. We are also requesting Big D Concrete be added to the list of names receiving copies of testing laboratory information for this project Regards, David Wittwer Quality Control Manager Big D Concrete, Inc. Technical Data Sheet ª Riteks Construction Admixture Chemicals ª SYAD 75 Retarding Admixture General DescriptionSpecifications SYADª 75 is a retarding admixture recommended for all concrete where extended Conforms to: ASTM C 494 Type B setting characteristics, particularly in hot weather are desired. SYAD 75 delays time of set to accommodate long haul times, or facilitate placement and finishing during Health and Environmental Data hot weather concreting. Please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for complete health, safety and Primary Applications environmental information. SYAD 75 was designed to be used where an economical and effective retarding is required to offset the accelerating effects of high ambient temperature concreting. Packaging / Shelf Life SYAD 75 will delay initial set times allowing proper placement and finishing without 5 gallon pail ¥ 55 gallon drum cold joints in hot weather conditions.Totes ¥ Bulk deliveries Store between 32¡ F and 100¡ F. Product Features / Advantages should be used within 12 months of ¥ Delays setting characteristics delivery. ¥ Improves workability and finishability ¥ Excellent retarding properties How to Use / Dosage Mixing: SYAD 75 should not come into contact with dry cement or other admixtures until they are mixed. Dosage: Rates will vary depending on the materials used, ambient conditions and the requirements of a specific project. For best results, add SYAD 75 to the water and aggregate mix at between 1.5-3 fl. oz of 100 lbs. of cementitious materials. Due to variations in concrete materials, job site conditions and applications, dosages outside of the recommended range may be required. In such cases, contact your local Riteks Construction Chemical Representative. Note: SYAD 75 does not contain calcium chloride or any chloride-based components and is non-corrosive to reinforced, galvanized floor/roof systems or prestressing steel.
