That is our typical standard. Dallas County was inquiring because it was requiring about 6-8” of fill on the back side, if
sloped away it would reduce it to 2-4” of fill.

I think the 1.5% is appropriate. I would be concerned with sloping it away only because the ROW should slope to the
street. But I could be convinced otherwise.

George,
We can make that adjustment. Once I receive exact grades, I will revise and share the detail.
Also, a question has come up concerning the slope of the trail along Belt Line Rd. currently, the plans call for a 1.5%
slope toward the road, which would make the back edge of the trail about 4” above the curb. Would you want to keep
this cross slope, lessen it or even slope the trail away from the road?

I like the plan with the exception that the toe wall be around 4’ below the flow line.

George,
Please see the attached detail for the concrete rip-rap armoring below the trail. I would recommend the stone rip-rap as
initially submitted for the armoring above the trail as I would want to keep the existing trees.
Please review and let me know if you have any questions.

Gene,
That sounds good to us. I will want to make sure we are good with the toe protection before it is cost out by the
contractor. I’m wondering if a poured in place wall would be a better option in the long run.
Thanks, George

George,
I talked to Garry Fennell concerning building the trail down in the channel. After reviewing the photos, aerials and what
I am proposing, he did not see it as Waters of the US or wetland and felt comfortable in his opinion of it not being an
issue. He did suggest the actual toe of the armoring being concrete. I am working toward updating the plan and details
(schematically) and getting the area surveyed. Before moving forward, I wanted to see if Coppell would allow this
treatment.
If you let me know your opinion before I move much further, that would be great.

George,

I went back out to the site after our meeting and wanted to see if the attached cross section at STA 123+50 would be a
possibility.
It would keep the existing alignment and dip down into the drainage way. It would use 18” rip-rap for slope protection.
It has its pros and cons, but thought it could be considered.
