Re: Village Parkway Ground Storage Reservoir No. 2 Pier Elevations
Dear Mr. Davis:
At your request, a field survey was conducted on October 3, 1995, to verify the elevations of ten random piers.
The following are the results of the survey:
Pier Number Plan Elevation (ft) [ Field Elevation (ft) Difference In Elevation (ft)
D 13 451.58 451.00 0.58
D15 451.58 450.98 0.60
G15 451.58 451.00 0.58
G 19 451.58 450.97 0.61
J19 451.58 451.01 0.57
N12 451.58 450.99 0.59
N 19 451.58 451.02 0.56
P18 451.58 450.99 0.59
Q12 451.58 451.05 0.53
S 14 451.58 450.98 0.60
In discussions with Robert Barbarisi of Natgun, he stated that the difference in elevation between the plan
elevations (451.58 feet) and the field elevations will be eliminated when the floor slab of the tank is poured and
connected to the piers. Our structural engineer stated that contractors typically leave the piers 5 to 6 inches short
and that the connection to the piers will generally be wider at the connection. The top of the pier must be cleaned
and free from all debris before the connection is made. We have requested revised shop drawings from Natgun
that will detail the connection between the floor slab of the tank and the piers at their field elevations. The
revised drawings will be forwarded to you upon review. Enclosed is a pier layout map with the location of the
piers that were surveyed. We are available to discuss this further at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Matt Hickey, E.I.T. '~
