Radius at Southwestern B!vd. and Freeport Pkwy.
Date: July 12, 1996
The northeast corner of the intersection at Southwestern Boulevard and Freeport Parkway has
a right turn radius of 21'. Trucks travelling westbound on Southwestern Blvd. and turning fight
to go northbound on Freeport Pkwy. are jumping the curb and hiring the rocks at the corner of
the intersection. In order for trucks to make a safer turning movement, several modifications
are necessary.
· Remove the bollards and rocks that are in city R.O.W.
· Construct a larger turning radius for trucks.
· Pull back the median on Freeport Parkway.
· Adjust the G.T.E. splice box to grade.
· Relocate the gas meter at the expense of the owner of T.S.T.I.
I have included a drawing of the northeast corner of the intersection for your information.
I have contacted Lone Star Gas and G.T.E. regarding relocation of the gas meter and splice box.
Lone Star Gas is reviewing the location of their gas main and determining what is necessary to
relocate the gas meter. G.T.E. is also field verifying the splice box and seeing what necessary
steps to adjust the box to grade. I have spoken with the supervisor at T.S.T.I. He agrees on
the recommendations if the meter is relocated to the northside of his building near the railroad.
He is aware that relocation of the gas meter is T.S.T.I.'s expense.
I have contacted North Texas Contracting, Inc. and Abcon to get estimates for modification of
the radius and removal of the rocks. Both companies will send estimates to me next week. I
will let you know the prices once I receive the estimates. If you have any questions please let
me know.
