Mike, I do not have anything budgeted to transplant those trees, particularly due to their large size, I would
imagine that it would be very expensive to transplant them. If there is nothing in your budget for
transplanting, the only alternative would be to remove them. Be prepared for the tree conservationist and
the related fall out.

Mike,
Be sure to print a copy of this out so it can be placed in file for future reference.

On October 2, 1996 1 sent you a memo regarding relocating the trees in the MacArthur Blvd. median
before we widen MacArthur in the future. Well that day is getting closer. There is currently a design for
the addition of another left turn lane for southbound MacArthur. This project is a federally funded project
and they anticipate it to begin approximately in July 1998. Please contact me so we can coordinate the
removal of the trees in the median and possibly you can have them replanted somewhere else. Thanks

RE: MacArthur Blvd. / Rdocation of trees in median
Date: October 2, 1996
As you probably know, sometime in the future MacArthur Blvd. from the north side of Coppell
to Belt Line Road will be widen from a 4-lane divided roadway to a 6-lane divided roadway.
The majority of the additional lanes will come from the median with a few feet from the
parkway.
The reason for this memo is to determine if there is any way that we can save some or all of
the existing trees in the median which will be affected by the construction of the additional lanes.
The area affected will be approximately 10 feet off the inside curb of each half of the roadway
(see attached figure).
Since I am not familiar with the relocation of trees, I wanted your opinion on relocating the
existing trees today while they are still relatively young thereby giving them a better chance of
survival. By waiting until MacArthur Blvd. is widen the trees may be too large, therefore,
unable to be relocated.
I would like to discuss this matter with you to see if thi~ is a possible approach to preserve the
trees in the median of MacArthur Blvd.
