ITEM CAPTION:
Consideration and approval to award Bid Q-0295-01 to provide landscape
services to the following companies: North Texas Landscape Services for
services to Class "A" & "B" medians for Grapevine Creek Park, Fire
Administration, Fire Stations No. 1 & 2, Town Center, and the William T.
Cozby Public Library, in an amount of $45,360.00; Green Company for
landscape services to the rough areas of Andrew Brown Jr. Community Parks
east and west, on a Class "B" basis, in an amount of $29,040.00; and
Carruthers Landscape Management Corporation for three fertilization
services to Class "A" medians in an amount of $3,939.00; the combined total
not to exceed $78,339.00.

STAFF COMMENTS:
A total of six bids were opened on February 27, 1995, to provide landscape
services to city medians, parks, fire and municipal facilities. Staff
evaluated those bids received, and found that North Texas Landscapes
provided the lowest qualified bids for Class A & B medians, Grapevine Creek
park site, fire protection facilities, Town Center, and the library. Based

EXPLANATION:
The addition of the rough areas of Andrew Brown Jr. Community Parks east
and west, Fire Administration, Fire Stations No. 1 & 2, Town Center, and
the Library has contributed to the increased cost of these landscape
services. Staff recommends approval of these bids as it would be
ineffective to attempt this service with current staffing levels.

FINANCIAL COMMENTS:
The amount of $94,445 was budgeted for this purpose in Park
Maintenance cost center. As of 3/7/95, $9,886.89 has been paid,
leaving $84,558.11 available.

EXPLANATION:
upon a review of listed references, staff determined North Texas Landscape
Services capable of performing the terms of the contract.
Staff evaluated the bids received for the rough areas of Andrew Brown Jr.
Community Parks east and west, and found the Green Company to be the lowest
qualified bidder.
Staff also evaluated the bids received for services to provide
fertilization to Class "A" medians, and determined that Carruthers
Landscape Management Corp. provided the lowest qualified bid.
The total funding for Class "A" & "B" medians, Grapevine Springs Park, the
rough areas of Andrew Brown Jr. Community parks east and west, fire
facilities, Town Center, and the library, as well as three fertilizations
for Class "A" medians is $78,339.00.
