Texas 75019 214-462-0022 September 23, 1994 RE: Freeport North Addition Dear Mr. Ramsey: This letter is written as a follow up to our conversation concerning the adequacy of the existing 10 inch sewer line in Royal Lane. At our August meeting, I stated that preliminary results of our Sewer Master Plan update showed that because of the lift station on the south side of Bethel Road the 10 inch line in Royal Lane was surcharged (full) when the pumps to the lift station came on. Because of your concerns, I asked our consultant to reevaluate this section of line. During the reevaluation, it was noted that two pipe sizes were incorrectly inserted into the computer program. The pipe sizes modeled into the computer program were based on the original design when the lift station discharge was to flow to the east toward the Minyard Distribution Center. Prior to construction, the decision was made to discharge the lift station north and then back to the west toward Royal Lane. Our construction plans (copy attached) show that when the direction of flow was revised, a 4 inch force main was constructed out of the lift station to an 8 inch grayity line on the north side of Bethel Road flowing toward Royal Lane. I have had our consultant reevaluate the flow using the new information. Based on that reevaluation, the 10 inch sewer line in Royal Lane will have adequate capacity to service your property. I also spoke with Howard Pafford, Utilities Superintendent, concerning this line. He stated that his employees have televised this line (a process in which a miniature camera is inserted into the line and pulled through the sewer line to video tape and note any problems with the sewer lines so that they can be corrected) and noted during the videotaping that when the lift station came on the 10 inch line in Royal Lane was flowing less than half full. Based on the recent reevaluation and the televising of the sewer line, it is my opinion that this line has adequate capacity to serve your facility. If you should have any questions concerning this please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, tger/City Engineer
