RE: First United Methodist Church Site Plan
Dear Mr. Richards:
The site plan that was faxed to the Engineering Deparhnent on October 9, 1992 was routed to
various departments within the City to get some preliminary direction on the submittal. I
received the comments back on October 22, 1992. This letter will list out the comments returned
by the various departments.
Public Works Department:
1) Need to submit plans identifying utilities, size of utilities, water service lines, and
sewer lines.
2) Need to provide landscaping plan for the right-of-way.
3) Will the site require on-site fire protection?
Fire Marshal:
1) Fire lanes should be 24 foot wide and a turn around should be provided within the
parking lot.
2) The fire hydrant is in excess of 150 foot away, therefore, if the gross square
footage is greater than 10,000 square feet, a sprinkler system will be required.
Building Inspection:
1) No access should be provided to the residential alley.
2) Landscape and screening plans should be provided.
3) Signage should be provided.
4) Irrigation should be provided.
5) The minimum distance from the parking spaces to the property line shall be 5 foot.

Engineering:
1) It appears that there will be 183 spaces with only one point of access. Strong
consideration should be given to providing two points of access, i.e. the access on
the east side of the church should be constructed to Bethel School at this time.
If this is not constructed, you should clearly denote the actual limits of where you
are proposing to stop your parking lot and provide a turnaround.
These comments are given as preliminary direction to the site plan. When the actual site plan
is submitted, other comments may be generated concerning the site plan.
If you should have any comments concerning these directions, please feel free to contact me at
your convenience.
Sincerely,
Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E.
