Gentlemen:
We have reviewed your request dated April 24, 1996, for a change order to cover the expense of furnishing
and installing three-36" flanges adaptors on the inlet and outlet pipes for the Village Parkway Ground Storage
Tank project. The construction plans and specifications indicate that the contractor is responsible for verifying
the connections to the existing pipes. It is our opinion that with proper advance verification by either you or
your subcontractor, the correct fittings and or valves could have been provided prior to actual construction and
thus avoiding the need for furnishing and field welding the 36" flange adapters.
At the direction of the City of Coppell, your request for the $8,041.00 change order is hereby rejected, If you
have any questions or need additional information concerning this determination, please do not hesitate to
contact this office.

Dear Bob,
In reference to the 36" piping on this project, in all three locations. it showed to be a
bell with a push in plug. We excavated and verified these fittings. The existingtim'rigs
were flange with a flange cap. G{ty'ord Hill Pipe Co. charged us extra on the manufa-
cturing of these three piece, the prices are as follows: $2,210. O0 each on all 3 pieces
which i3 a total of $6,630.00. The bolts az~ gasketswere S226.55 each on all 3 ,vets for a
total of $679.65
This vaas not how I quoted this project and feel that I 'm do ootid~n~ult~n on the cost
of these items. There is extra labor in the removal and installation in these flange ~tt-
ings. this I 'm writing to absorb. Thartk you for you're concern in this matter.
