Forest Cove 1-CS 980223 MEMORANDUM
FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING
To: Greg Jones, Chief Building Official
From: Ken Griffin, P.E., Dir. of Engineering and Public Works
RE: Forest Cove
Date: February 23, 1998
The City of Coppell Engineering Department is currently finalizing construction plans on a 24"
transmission water line along Sandy Lake Road from Denton Tap westward to the new proposed
elevated storage tank. Part of the 24" water line will be constructed in an easement dedicated on
the Forest Cove Plat 5 feet away from the proposed screening wall. The City is trying to
expedite the bidding of the project, but it is anticipated that the earliest construction could begin
on the 24" water line is in the May/June time frame. I am unsure when Forest Cove will be
requesting approvals to construct their screening wall. Therefore, I would request that the
Engineering Department be notified prior to the issuance of a permit for the screening wall on
Forest Cove. That notification will be an opportunity for us to meet with the developer to see if
other options are available to the City to have the water line installed prior to the construction of
the wall. It would not be in the best interest of the City to attempt to construct a 24" water line at
the depths proposed adjacent to the screening wall afler it has been constructed.
