RE: Letter to the Editor by Hubert Wilson
May 2, 1996 Coppell Gazette
Date: May 7, 1996
Mr. Wilson refers to Kimbel Court in east Coppell between Sandy Lake and Village Parkway.
The thing that caught my attention was that Mr. Wilson indicated that in thirteen years there has
been absolutely Ix)thing done of significance on this roadway as far as improving the condition
of the roadway. It should be noted that in 1989, approximately 7 years ago, Kimbel Court was
overlaid. The roadway was also included in the 1990 Bond Program but was not approved for
reconstruction. This roadway has been identified by City staff for sometime as a roadway which
needs improvement. It should be noted that during the last week of April, significant
improvements were made to Kimbel Court which included a large portion of the roadway being
overlaid with asphalt. By know means is this a cure all, however, it is an attempt to extend the
life of the roadway until such time as the City undertakes the complete reconstruction of the
roadway.
Mr. Wilson also states in his letter that there is no desire at City Hall to do anything with the
roadway. Again, this roadway was identified for inclusion of the 1990 Bond Sale but did not
make the final cut by the committee. It was overlaid in 1989 and as of last week a significant
amount of work was performed on the roadway. Until such time as it is included into a major
Capital Improvement Program, the City will continue to moniwr the roadway in an attempt to
keep it in as good a driveable condition as possible.
