This is a high profile intersection closure and it needs to be very visible. I put it under Road Closures,
however you may know of a better location.

SANDY LAKE ROAD / MACARTHUR BOULEVARD
INTERSECTION CLOSURE
The Sandy Lake Road / MacArthur Boulevard intersection will be closed to all traffic during
the weekends of August 10 - 12, and August 17 - 19, 2001 for reconstruction. The City
apologizes for any inconvenience that this closure causes, however, construction of the
intersection in this manner will provide for a safer and more expedient construction.
Weekend of August 10 - 12
The contractor, if he chooses, will start Friday evening, closing down the
intersection and lowering it to grade. He will undercut the intersection and install
cement treated base approximately 8" lower than the surrounding street. He will
seal the base material and provide ramps from the surrounding streets to the new
cement treated base and open the intersection back up prior to Monday morning.
Traffic will drive on this treated base for one week.
Weekend of August 17- 19
The contractor, if he chooses, will start Friday evening, closing the intersection and
installing reinforcing steel. Saturday aftemoon the contractor will pour high early-
strength concrete over the intersection. The high early-strength concrete typically
reaches its design strength within 24 hours. Concrete cylinders will be tested on
Sunday afternoon so the road can be opened up to traffic by Monday morning.
