Additional Geotechnical Services
Consolidation Testing and Analysis
Proposed At-Grade Water Storage Tank
Coppell, Texas
Dear Mr. Griffin:
Per our telephone conversation of January 25, 1994, we are pleased to submit the following cost
estimate for additional geotechnical engineering services on the above referenced project.
We understand that the existing water storage tank just west of the proposed site is supported
on piers. Consideration was once given to supporting structural loads using an integral slab and
grade beam foundation but found not be feasible due to potential for significant differential
settlement.
Based on the results of our borings and routine laboratory tests at the east tank location, an
integral slab and grade beam foundation may be a feasible alternative for the proposed project.
However, consolidation testing and settlement analysis will be necessary in order to provide
shallow foundation recommendations with higher confidence.
As previously mentioned in our proposal (Proposal No. 01401) dated January 5, 1994,
consolidation testing will cost $300.00 for each soil specimen. We recommend performing three
(3) consolidation tests for an additional total of $900.00. If the results indicate that the
differential settlements are within a tolorable range, considerable cost savings would be realized
with the use of an integral slab and grade beam foundation.
