MEMORANDUM
DATE~ July 8, 1992
TO:. Greg Jones, Senior Building Inspector
FROM: Perry. L. Robinson, R.S., Environmental Health Offic
-RE: ' · On-Site Sewerage System at Lone Star Country Club
In regar~s~:.'to your' inquiry- concerning the repair and/or
modification'to the on-site septic system located at the Lone Star
Country Club, 1849 E. Beltline Road, the following information i~
offered: ~ .....
I spoke with Ken Griffin of the Engineering Department on July 7,
.1992, and he feels strongly that'.the septic system should not be
allowed into the floodplain area,'j, and due to the "non-conforming"
zoning status' at this 'faoility,.Pthey should not be allowed to
"er~hance" o~:add on to the drainage]field of the existing system.
Also, the Texas Water Commis0ion Contradiction Standards for On-Site
Sewerage FAo~4t4e~ states that .the absorption, field must be a
minimum of 75.feet form.the, highest..level of any stream, river,
pond, or other'body of water.""-Section-301.13 (a) (4) also states
"...all of'a'soil absorption"system.must be constructed out of the
flood-prone area, and not within-areas subject to inundation or
erosion by flood waters.
In light of this, it is my recommendation that if the owners of
this club still desire to re-engineer their septic system, that
they be required to'have the site'~assessed, and the system re-
designed by a registered professional engineer-who is certified as
being knowledgeable and qualified in the design of on-site sewerage
systems, as well as all federal, state, and local codes performing
.~t~hereto.
In the meantime, Mr. Bruce Kaminski, part owner of this club, has
expressed the desire to simply replace the failed portion of the
lateral line. I have no problem in their merely repairing a part
of the structure that already existed previously at this site, the
rest of the approval rests-'in.'.the hands of Ken Griffin and
If any additional help or information in'regards to this type of
situation is desired, please do not hesitate to ask,.for my
assistance.
