Drainage Handbook Specifications ~ I-7 HANCOR Hi-Q® PIPE SPECIFICATIONS Scope This specification describes 4- to 48-inch Hancor Hi-Q pipe for use in gravity flow drainage applications. Pipe Requirements Hi-Q pipe shall have a smooth interior and corrugated exterior. Four- through 10-inch Hi-Q pipe shall meet the requirements of AASHTO M252 Type S, and 12- through 36-inch shall meet the requirements of AASHTO M294 Type S. Forty-two and 48-inch diameters shall have minimum pipe stiffness of 20 and 17 pii, respectively, at 5% deflection and shall meet all other requirements of AASHT0 M294. Manning's "n' value for use in design shall not exceed 0.010. Joint Perfomlance Pipe shall be joined with coupling bands or external snap couplers covering at least t~vo full corrugations on each end of the pipe. Standard (non-gasketed) connections shall meet the soil-tightness requirements of the AASHT0 Standard Specification for Highway Bridges, Section 26, paragraph 26.4.2.4(e). Silt-tight (gasketed) connections shall incorporate a closed-cell synthetic expanded rubber gasket meeting the requirements of ASTM D1056 Grade 2A2. Gaskets shall be installed on the connection by the pipe manufacturer. Fittings Fittings shall conform to AASHTO M252 or AASHI'0 M294. Fabricated fittings shall be welded on the interior and exterior at all junctions. Material P~operties Pipe and fitting material shall be high density polyethylene meeting the requirements of ASTM D3350 Cell Classification 324420C; or ASTM D1248 Type III, Class C, Category 4, Grade P33. Pipe Requirements Pipe Requirements Hi-Q Sure-Lok p~pe shall meet the requirements ot AASHTO M294 T:,.pe H,-Q Sure-Lok 10.8 pipe shall meet the requirements of AASHTO M294 Type S. Manning's "n" value for use in design st]all rot exceed 0.010. S. Manning's "n" value for use in design shall not exceed 0.010. Joint Performance Joint Performance Pipe shall be joined with the Sure-Lok (bell-arid-spigot) joint and shall P~pe shall be joined w~tll the Sure-Lok Ibell-and-spigoU joint and shall provide a minimum pull-apart strength of 400 ihs. Tile bell shall be a;] pro,,.de a minimum pull-apart strength of 400 lbs. The bell shall be an integral part of the pipe. ,ntegral part of the p~pe.
