SW9701-CS 971111 AGENDA REQUEST FORM CITY COUNCIL MEETING: November 11, 1997 ITEM # ITEM CAPTION: Consider approval of awarding Bid/Contract #Q-1097-01 to Abeon Paving, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $57,500 for the 1997/98 Sidewalk Replacement Program and authorizing the Mayor to sign. SUBMITTE BY: Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E. STAFFT~ET~D}r. of Engine '~orks Denial STAFF COMMENTS: Six requests for bids were mailed out to contractors. However, only one bid was received and opened on October 27, 1997 for the removal and replacement of sidewalks. Abcon Paving, Inc. bid $6.00 per square foot for the removal and replacement of sidewalks. Based on the price bid, the City will be able to replace about 8300 square feet of sidewalks. This is about 80% of our requests for repairs. An alternate bid of $7,500.00 was made for the construction of a new sidewalk in from of Town Center adjacent to Parkway Blvd. The contractor's qualifications and references have been checked and are acceptable. Abcon is the same contractor who has performed concrete street repairs for the City the past three years. Staff recommends approval of Bid #Q-1097-01 to Abcon Paving, Inc. and staff will be available to answer any questions at the Council meeting. ApPROVED BY CiTY COUNCIL DATE BUDGET AMT. $ AMT.
